Re: Trailer Loading
Still waiting on the accurate parcel scale to complete my CG calculations. So with 2 days of nice warm dry weather after the rains, I decided to put the beast on my converted trailer to work out a procedure and to get some measurements about where to mount the tailwheel bracket. Once again a valuab...

Good stuff! I'm thinking, if he's got that Badland coming in at 248Lbs, with the F5 and being conservative at a weight savings of 25Lbs, that my F5 might come in around the low 220Lbs (accounting for same engine and such). Crap, I weigh more than my plane will! I really need to take my diet a lot m...

Hi all! New to ultralights but have been flying since 1956 when grandpa bundled mom and 6 week old me into his C-170. I bought Chris Deuel’s Badland F1 he had on display at Airventure 2023, picked it up in November and drove it to its new home at WVI Watsonville, CA. Got a PPL in 1977, flew Cheroke...

I am thinking they will work fine. My only concern is the amount of flex in PVC...but I don't think there will be enough to do any harm. To help reduce most of the flex, get yourself a can of insulation spray foam and shoot it down the pipes. It'll expand to the other end. Cut off the mess at the o...

I agree that the short gust locks may damage the plane. There's simply not enough material in between the fabric to really take any strain? I'm guessing on that, but like you, I'd rather be safe with something larger than sorry because something gets damaged. How long do you think the gust locks nee...

I am late to the party, here. I am pretty sold on the F23. First it is air cooled, meaning less to go wrong like a coolant leak, etc. Second, opposed runs smooth. Smooth is less to go wrong. Third, the F23 can be throttled back in cruise to like 40 or less HP, so less wear and tear, and fourth, the...

How easily do they sand or grind down at the thick end? I am thinking some adjustment may be necessary for any excess glue on the spar.
