Wing covering rotisserie ... Kinda

Post by ksatter26 »

I had trouble posting this with pictures in the Discussion section, so here it is:

On the TEMU website, I came across a telescoping microphone tripod stand (up to 56") at a reasonable price ($8). I thought they might work as a relatively portable method of supporting the wing in various positions when covering with Oratex. I ordered two (I'll need two more if it works) and they arrived this morning. Nice quality and I have converted one in just over a half hour. Appears that it will work.

I used a 5' length of 1.5" id PVC that slips over the extended part of the tripod. I drilled several 0.85" holes thru the upright PVC at convenient locations to accept a length of 0,85" od PVC that slips into the spar tube to support the wing. The 2nd pair will be used in a similar manner in the rear spar. I can move the rear spar pair to rotate the wing upright or reversed to do the covering. The height can be adjusted using the various holes in the uprights.

It appears that this will work just fine for under $40.
