One more cosmetic sanding

Post by ksatter26 »

One more cosmetic sanding (to the port-side exhaust stack cut-out) followed by a spray coat of sealer/primer which will highlight any pin-holes for filling before finish sanding.

This morning I drove out to Majors Airport (Greenville, TX ... 15 miles) and purchased 5 gallons of 100LL ($5.29/gal) and 5 gallons of EXXON 91 octane ethanol free premium ($3.80/gal). If the weather holds (forecast doesn't look good), I may try to start the Polini 303 using a 50/50 mix of the two fuels (~95.5 octane) and the appropriate amount of Blue Max 2-stroke oil. I have a spring-loaded, hunter's scale that I will probably secure to the tailwheel to get a rough guestimate of the thrust produced. Big plans ... should the weather cooperate ... calling for rain most of next week too.

Your cowl work is looking great Kurt. It's really coming along nicely.

As for the engine start, I'd be curious to hear some numbers if/when you manage to fire it up...thrust produced, maximum static RPM...let us know!
