Got tired of fooling with the cowling. So I improvised and said good enough. Maybe a new cowling will be in the plan for next winter.

I like it. It reminds me of a Spad X.SIII. You may need to throw a second wing on it! How did you mount the screen?

Believe it or not, the round tube inside the nose portion is a 3/4" nylon re-enforced hose that I attached to the cowl to close it in a tad. Then attached the screen to the backside of the hose. The screen is from an old screen door protector which is pretty stiff but lightweight. Did I mention, I HATE fiberglass work. Should have plenty of airflow. The 303DS has a pretty flat front on it so this was a solution without worrying about prop clearance which is about 1/2"- 3/4" and the cowl is rock solid.

That certainly has no problem getting cool air to that engine! Innovative for sure. I've not done any fiberglass work. I have a feeling I'm going to be in the same boat as you, preferring not to have to use it. Who knows though, maybe I'll have some nack for it? LOL 😂
