Re: Cloud Ahoy Cessna 152 Discovery Flight 01/25/2024

Todd: "Dear FAA, we definitely did NOT do stall-spin training, hammerheads and steep dives in the Cessna!" Meanwhile Cloud-Ahoy is telling a very different story. Hmm. Todd, you didn't mention that you were renting a 152 Aerobat for your discovery flight! Funny thing, I was going to ...

Re: F-3 Trailer Build

Plenty of progress today. I finished the welding on the front brackets, drilled the bolt holes and have it "roughed in" (primered and bolted finger tight). TrailerFrontDone.jpg The next step was to make the bracket for the tail support. I may have mentioned my intent here - to have a hinge...

Re: F-3 Trailer Build

Well, I was able to make a bit more progress over my lunch break. I managed to mock up the ramp brackets and eyeball them to where they leave enough metal on the outer edge to support the lip of the ramp and still look decent. It was a compromise, as they aren't perfect, but they will work for sure....

It's always nice to make a little progress, even if it's very little. I guess the adage for the kit plane applies to the trailer as well...do a little bit each day just to keep the motivation up. Watching YouTube flight videos doesn't hurt either!

A little more progress has been made on the trailer. I got home to find a nice package of goodies for me. Re: Wing capstrip rib end contour forms

How easily do they sand or grind down at the thick end? I am thinking some adjustment may be necessary for any excess glue on the spar. It's probably better to sand the adapter than sand the spar and risk nicks or gouges.

Very cool nonetheless!

You may want to keep a decent amount of both colors, just in case you need to add patches for whatever reason. Or create other parts that you need to cover, like droop tips, etc. I also ended up with excess material, but figured I would hang onto it for these reasons. (I didn't have the benefit of a...

My brace for the tail end of the folding wings is in line with the tailwheel spring, so it would be at the same distance as the existing lights on the trailer. I'll have to keep brainstorming this. And maybe I just need to add a "third brake light" to the plane and let it double as a strob...
