CALLING ALL 2-STROKE ENTHUSIASTS It's been a while since I've touched this thread, but the testing has continued, and I hate to admit that I may be stumped. Since my original post, I've dropped the main jet all the way down to a 120 (from 158 originally). I've moved the needle up and down to try to ...

Also, as for the alignment (and opening the end of the control horn sleeve), it doesn't need to align perfectly. Mine doesn't - it's offset just a bit - (maybe half an inch or a little more?) It's not likely to add much resistance as a result of such a small amount. Did you mount your cable guides t...

Okay, so for starters, it looks like your bolt through-fittings for the wing spar mounts were already cut and shaped, but as you say thre is a gap. Okay, so for the spar jig, it looks like your spar mounting fixtures have already been trimmed, so it's not necessary. My fixtures were longer than the inner diameter of the spar and as a result had to be gently filed down so they would fit snugly into the spar. I beveled them as well, to match the ...

Happy New Year! I mounted the flaperon mounts first, then covered them. Either way works, but I preferred the cleaner look of the fabric covering the aluminum base plates. Did your gauge not come with both sensors? (Or perhaps it's the Falcon CHT/EGT gauge that comes as a package.) Looking forward t...

Hi there - actually, it's the Polini Thor 200 evo swinging the e-props fixed pitch. 59.1" diameter prop. I am told static timing should be around 7200rpm, but that may be for a paramotor, which has a 51" prop typically. Redline is closer to 8500 or so, I believe. I seem to be averaging 540...

Flaperon Cable Routing
There have been some questions regarding the routing of the flaperon cables in a way that most limits friction and makes stick pressures as light as possible. For those of you who have built (or are currently building) the main gear on your Badland kit, I'm curious as to where you landed on your geometry. The view over my hood COULD be a little better with the Polini, especially since my tailwheel is a few inches higher than it would be without the tailwheel dolly. I haven't added a seat cushion yet, which I think will help quite a bit. However, if you are at least 5'10" (which I am just a hair ...

Jetting my Polini Thor (200 Evo) on my F2 Flyer
I thought I'd open a conversation about jetting, since I'm at that point in my build. My Polini came with a PWK 028 carb out of the box. It had a 148 main jet and a 45 pilot jet installed. On initial run (not break-in; this is a used engine and had already been broken in and flown but with a differe...

Todd is right - at full flap setting, there is almost zero flaperon "throw". I actually plan on blocking off the full flap setting on my plane to prevent accidental use of full flaps and the resultant loss of aileron authority.

Not a bad idea to increase the fences in increments and test. I should be so lucky as to have the plane float down gently in a stall. That would be my ideal for sure!

I would love to see the end result of an "N" numbered Badland, with all the bells and whistles. I think it would make a great platform for something like what you describe, and likely be an easy transition for you. According to Chris, it flies more like a GA aircraft than like an ultralight.
